Short Essay: Effects of Pirated Products on Local Entertainment Industry
Last year the local entertainment industry lost an estimatd 60% of its total profits due to the production and sale of pirated products. As a result, the industry launched a nationwide campaign to stop the sale of these products. With the help of the relevant government agencies like the police department and local council enforcement officets, it began the campaign with an appeal for cooperation from the public not to purchase these pirated compact discs so as to force the vendors out of business. At present, there are no laws to stop the public from buying pirated products and the best approach therefore is to educated them on the negative repercussions on the entertainment industry. Jowever, there sre laws to stop the profuction and sale of unlicensed products, but the authorities find it very difficult to put an end to these illegal activities. Often, the vendors manage to slip away during raids. In addition, producers have begun to produce pirated compact discs in private homes and luxury apartment instead of in factory type premises. This has made it more difficult for the authorities to detect and detain the producers of pirated discs.
